During the Spring of 2015, I went on my first study abroad trip with a group of about 20 students. It was only for ten days, but it really did open up my eyes. We ventured off to Greece and Italy, two countries that I have always wanted to go to, and now that I went, I can cross them off my list (even though it will NOT be the only times I visit these places for I loved them both so much). It has been quite some time since I last took step onto European soil. The last time was about 8 years ago when I was 11. I went to the Netherlands and Spain for a vacation, however I was too young in my opinion and I didn’t appreciate the world and what it has to offer nearly as much as I do now. Plus I don’t really remember much, and on top of that I didn’t even take many pictures because I didn’t have a cell phone at the time, lol. Anyways, this trip was definitely all and more of what was expected. I had so much fun from start to finish. They call it “study abroad” but my professor was so chill and understanding that we really didn’t do anything school related, thank God. Don’t get me wrong though, I absolutely loved hearing about the history and visiting the ancient monuments of these places, our tour guides were amazing! Little did I know that this trip, even though it being only for 10 days, would change me and my entire perspective of the world. I had fallen in love with travel.
Okay, we get it. Travel changed you. But how?!
I truly believe travel changes anyone who actually does it. It has made me a better person entirely.
When I got home from my trip, I felt so much more appreciation for my family and friends. I appreciate every little thing that they do for me and I thank them everyday for their presence in my life; because without them, I am nothing. I am grateful for everything that I do have that others may not necessarily own elsewhere. I am thankful for the food that I eat and water that I drink. Whenever it rains, I thank God for the showers He pours the world with. Happiness comes when perspective changes. Appreciate the world around you and what it has to offer and most important of all appreciate those around you who you love; cherish their presence.
Though I haven't made many travels thus far in my life, I know in the near future when I begin more travels, I will fill this blog with more and more reasons why it has changed. I only left you all the reason above because I feel like it is the most important one of all.
Embrace your loved ones.
Anyone who disagrees with me about such topics feel free; however I'm telling you what I experienced firsthand. Ask anyone who shares my passion. The answer should be similar if not identical.
